I do not normally post this many images in a sneak peek, but when it is one of your best friends newborn baby girl... I just cannot help myself. I love her so much and she is only a few weeks new! Baby J's mommy is one of my favorite people (and so is her amazing hubby) in this entire world and I credit much of who I am today because of her. Love you both and congratulations on your new love!

Absolutely adored this newborn session! It was so amazing to be apart of so much love and contagious energy. Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle J were all visiting from out of town. During our session, Baby N's parents and family watched him in amazement which reminded me of how precious life is and how every moment given to us is a beautiful blessing.

Has anyone else noticed the enormous amount of newborns lately? Something must have been in the water last fall because I've never photographed this many newborns in 1 week before. And, I have two more newborn sneak peeks coming up!

This little guy is just so sweet. Love his parents whom I've gotten the pleasure of knowing through our previous sessions together. This first image, in daddy's hands, makes me melt.

It's always fun to reconnect with people from your childhood. However, it also quickly reminds you of how fast time truly goes by. I believe I have known this little cuties mommy since like my 8th grade year. And, now... here I am photographing her beautiful daughter years later. Little Miss O was not quite so sure of what to think of me. But, with daddy running around in circles we managed to capture some great images!

Here is another wonderful family that was willing to bear the heat and humidity this week with me. Wow... I think I have lost about 5 lbs this week in pure sweat (well, a girl can at least hope).

This session took place at Lanoha Nursery and I am loving all the variety! Even though it was super hot and absolutely gross out... this family was amazing and we had a fantastic session.

That is exactly what we were all saying during this session! This session wins the "hottest session ever" award and these two beautiful children did absolutely amazing. Sweat beads galore and dripping wet hair... but we made it through! Thanks B family for bearing the elements with me and for being so calm and relaxed in such yucky conditions.

I have so many favorites from this newborn session. Mr. T was such a joy to photograph and posed so beautifully for me. I can't wait to watch him grow through the years. Some of these images have such a soft and creamy feel to them which I am absolutely loving!

Mom had the best idea of using this gorgeous pattern as a backdrop... LOVE this image! It turned out perfect.

Holy moly... this little guy was fast! Falling into the sand and running away from the camera was the games he wanted to play so with quick fingers and fast shutter speeds we captured the real life of a 2-year-old boy. I LOVE photographing children between the ages of 6-13 age. Kids this age are often what I call the "in-betweens." They are no longer babies/toddlers and are not yet mature enough to be called young woman or men. We tend to use their school photo to document each awkward stage but, of course, as a photographer those school photos do not do this age group justice!

As parents, we tend to photograph our children SO much as newborns, babies and during those early toddler years. And then... there is this huge gap, life happens, we get busy and then before you know it you are scheduling their senior portraits. Ahhh... if only we would get the in-between years. This age just screams beauty, growth and that teeter-totter of innocence. It's breath-taking to me and so you can just about guess how excited I was to meet these two beautiful girls and their gorgeous family.

Well, my birthday is pretty much over. But, what a great day. New haircut and my husband surprised me with an hour long, much needed, massage!!! Now, feeling older but much more refreshed.

This beautiful family below has had some trying health issues over this past year. However, things are going great now and it was an honor photographing this stage in their lives. Big brother was on the move and he sure was quick! I enjoyed our conversation and their fun family energy.

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful group of children all within 3 hours! Our time together was short but I enjoyed the various personalities and character each child had to offer. I definitely received a workout... getting the attention of 18 children is not an easy task. I started photographing these two twin big brothers when they were 9 months old. Now, they are 3 years old and are full of energy and toddler hood. Now, there is another set of twins in this family and I was so excited to capture them all. Photographing children is such an amazing job! The beauty of this "job" is that I never feel like I am actually working. I am in this constant world of art and creativity and for me... that is perfect.

This family was such a joy to photograph. Big sister was so cute and I just chuckled under my breath when I heard her reciting to herself, "I need to be a good example. I need to be a good example." She was referring to her "big sister" duties of making sure little brother followed directions. It reminded me of my childhood and always wanting to be just like my big sister and following every move she made. Funny thing is... I still do!

Now that I am a photographer I tend to look at children so differently. There are many moments throughout my week where I am at the store, a park or at an event when I come across a child that ignites something inside of me. Sometimes it is their eyes, hair, facial bone structure or energy. Other times... their personality just stops me in my tracks and I know they would photograph beautifully. Little Miss Isabella was one of those children. The moment I met her she had my full attention and I was so excited when her mommy called to schedule an appointment. She is simply beautiful... and so is her mommy!

Another wonderful family session... this time we were thankful we did not blow away! Friday was terribly windy but we managed to find some calmness tucked within a patch of trees. This little man had me on the run and was not to interested in looking at my camera. With all the cool rocks, sticks and trees around it is hard to want to look at the annoying lady with the big black box looking thing stuck to her eyeball. Exploring the elements around is much more interesting. :)

It's so wonderful to have best friends. I am lucky when it comes to the best friend's department. I have 5!!! When we were all in high school we made a pact that we would "stay in touch" once we all moved on to different colleges, states, etc. We all knew that everybody says they will stay close with their high school friends but that the reality is no one ever really does. Life happens, people drift apart, new friends are made. BUT, we knew we were different from the norm. We promised we would make it... and we were a group that just didn't break their promises. This group of mine is amazing and these women are so unique and talented each in their own way. We have a lawyer, school psychologist, singer/song writer (check out my website and listen to that amazing song and you'll get a taste of the goods), marketing guru, a writer and me... the photographer. I am set!!! Now, of course, we are getting older and these beautiful woman are having beautiful babies. And guess what... I get to photograph them! I am just so blessed.

Okay, I'll stop now and get to the pictures. Meet Miss Bess... her mommy and I go way back and without her I don't know what I would do.

Also, the beauty in photographing your best friend's kids is that they are open to my crazy ideas. My mom found this suitcase for $2.00 about 3 years ago and I have never used it. Until now...

Baby S wanted to come into this world about 7-10 weeks early. With about 4 weeks in the NICU and some tender loving care at home she is doing great. I believe she is about 9 lbs. now and around 3 months of age. Isn't she so beautiful... just look at those amazing blue eyes!!! When we started this session her mommy said, "Oh, she looks like such an angel." I could not have used better words to describe this little princess.

Dear Brandon & Charlie,
It's moments like these that fill my heart with pure love and joy! Being your mother is the greatest gift God has given me. I love watching you both take one another in with pure innocence and love. Brandon, Charlie is so infatuated with you and I can see how much he admires every move you make. You are the only one who can make him bust out into a full belly laugh at the drop of a hat. And Charlie, your calmness and ability to light up a room with one little smile amazes me everyday. I can feel this incredible amount of peace when I look into your eyes. Ahhh... an outdoor session! My absolute favorite is photographing in the outdoors and I had a such a great time with these two cuties. We headed down to the Old Market and were blessed with an incredible day. I enjoyed every moment of this session and am so excited for all my outdoor sessions to come.

And, I have to say... this is one of my favorite images EVER! I love the giggle, lost tooth and wind blown hair. She is expressing the joy of being 3 and loving every minute.

I want to first apologize for anyone who has tried to get on my blog recently and has been unable to do so due to security reasons or virus warnings. I had some sort of virus in my new blog and had no idea how to get rid of it. So... instead of going crazy I decided to start over and use trusty "blogger". It is hard to part with my new blog because I just love the slide show header, customized settings, larger images, etc. But, it is not worth the headaches and potential harm it could cause my clients. Plus, I figured out how to add larger images to this template!!!

My old blog has been completely deleted and I decided not to transfer those posts onto this blog due to potential risk of harming the new one. Thank you for understanding.

I have so many ideas in this head of mine and all it takes is to recruit some beautiful models to practice on. It totally helps when your model grabs at the prop and looks right at you like in image #1. Her expression and natural reaction to touch what was placed on her head made this shot perfection!

My plan this year is to get out there and do more "for me" sessions so that I can tap into my creative side a bit more. I always try to add creativity to every session but sometimes you find yourself in this rut that is hard to get out of until you take some chances. So, this year I hope to build my portfolio with more fun, funky, timeless and creative images for you all to enjoy.

Just look at this beautiful baby boy! Poor little guy just did not want to have his picture taken. He was so wide awake and peaceful at the very beginning but as things progressed he quickly decided that he was done. So, we had to call it quits. But, this first shot was worth it all because it just takes my breath away.

Charlie had his 4 month check-up yesterday and everything is going well. He has a few issues with reflux and has lost quite a bit of weight. So, we are trying a new medication. Hopefully he can keep his food down now instead of voming all day. He also has a little ear infection and is still battling cradle cap. But, he is still all smiles and is doing great.

I wanted to practice on my focus and with the light yesterday so Charlie and I had a little mini session before his big appointment. In addition, I wanted to work on posing for this age and different angles. When babies cannot sit up it can be quite challenging to get a lot of variety. Here is what I got in the 15 minutes he wanted to work! I just love him so much.

Just look at this tiny little guy! He is just full of sweetness and has two beautiful parents who are so in love! I enjoyed holding baby M and all his tininess! It is crazy how you so quickly forget how fast this newborn stage goes.

I cannot believe he is already 4 months old! I just love how his little personality is developing... and that smile is so addicting. I wasn't planning on photographing Charlie today but when big brother decided to sit next to him for a picture I couldn't resist. They are going to be such great friends.

Happy New Year! This was my first session of 2009 and I love that it was a maternity session. Maternity represent new life and beginnings which seems appropriate when looking at the start of a new year. This mommy-to-be did such a great job and is looking forward to baby #2.

What a wonderful session I had this morning with this little cutie! We decided that a little snow and ice was not going to stop us! I photographed little miss A as a newborn and it was so great to see her again at now 1-years-old. We went to the Durham for this session and it now has to be my new favorite indoor spot... so many options!

Oh my... I have been having some major computer issues but thanks to good friends things are working again. Anyways, I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful 7 month old last week. I LOVE her hat and little diaper ruffle... she was so much fun.

Little Miss K was most comfortable in her mommy's arms... she wasn't quite sure what to think of me and my big black camera! We managed to even snap a few pics outside which seems so crazy considering Christmas is right around the corner.

We were blessed with another gorgeous day for this session. I love looking at these images... she still holds that childhood innocence that we never want our children to lose and wish we could bottle up forever. I enjoyed walking through the park with Miss M... her energy, friendliness and smile were contagious!

Happy Thanksgiving! Today is a day to give thanks... to acknowledge and remind ourselves of how blessed we are in life. So today, I give thanks for:

My family... this year has been filled with new life, happiness and broken hearts. It has been a year of change for us all and even though it has been overwhelming joyful at times it has been just as equally rough. But, through it all I feel so extremely blessed to be a part of so much love. Today is tough... my family is redefining itself and this new definition is not easy. However, with change brings joy, new happiness and strength.

Now, for all of the little things that make me smile... coffee, my baby's first smile, superhero underwear, pictures, music, my son's imagination and his amazing adventures he takes daily inside himself, new markers, my husband's smell, sisters and my parent's.

Let's get to today's sneak peek... I am also extremely thankful for all of my clients and the relationships that I get to build with your children and families. Here are two cuties that have come back this year and I just love their dark eyes and sweet smiles.

I had a great time photographing this little beauty. We did a lot for one session but little miss L did such an amazing job through it all. I gasped when I saw this first image and new right away, before even looking through all the rest, that it was my favorite. I LOVE it!

Wow... I normally don't show this many images in a sneak peek but I just couldn't stop myself. I had so much fun with this beautiful family. Working with older children tends to allow more freedom with creativity and these boys were definitely creative. They have such different personalities and I love how these images capture their individuality, the love that radiates within this family and all the fun they have together!
